Before buying any dog, do your research, don’t buy a dog because it looks “cute or cool” or because you have seen it in a movie or on a TV program, Don’t be fooled, canine film stars are well trained, they have had a lot of training and time spent with them Having a dog is a commitment for 365 days of the year and for the life time of the dog.. If you don’t have the time or commitment, don’t get a dog.

Is a high energy dog right for you?
Now is the time of year, many people look at adding a new addition to their family, often cuteness wins out over common sense. All puppies are cute but they don’t stay that way for long. Before buying a dog, research the breed, ask yourself if you have the time or the energy, especially if you decide to get a high energy dog. They need to be worked, they like and need to be doing something, 365 days of the year. A bored dog can be very frustrating and destructive because today, many dogs have lost the jobs, they were bred and born to do.

State fails to inspect some dog day care centers, groomers
Doggy Day Care facilities are popping up all over New Zealand but how good are they really? The industry is pretty much unregulated anyone can start a day care. Having a love of dogs isn’t enough or a good reason to be in the business. Anyone who takes their dog to day care, trusts that the people who are running it, have the knowledge and expertise to provide a safe and healthy environment for their dog. Big dogs should not be running with little dogs. And all dogs should be watched all the time, in other words, staff should have their “Eyes Wide Open” all the time. Although this incident happened in the US, it could easily happen here.

Mr Photogenic: Zues Is a Dogue de Bordeaux and lives in the house with me
I though it was time to update my dogs photos, Zues is a Dogue de Bordeaux and he doesn’t like having his photo taken. All I can say these photos were hard got. So I thought I would share them. He is a great dog, lives in the house with me, he is a rescue dog, he fell on his feet when he moved in with me.

Natural Supplements for anxious and reactive dogs, can they help your dog?
While for many dogs, training and behaviour modification does work wonders for reactive or anxious dogs, it may be not quite enough for others who find coping in the real world very hard. A natural pet supplement could be the answer for your dog, they don’t fix the problem but can take the edge off and it goes without saying not all supplements work, as every dog is different.
