I heard about this the other day “Dog rumour barking up the wrong tree” http://www.stuff.co.nz/manawatu-standard/news/9183779/Dog-rumour-barking-up-wrong-tree
Dog owners need to be aware, dog theft is a reality and certain breeds are targeted more than others. There are few things dog owners can do to reduce the risk of their dogs being stolen. Most thefts are opportunistic, so don’t make it easy for thieves. So when you are not home:
1.Make sure your gates are locked and secure.
2.Don’t let your dog run the fence line.
3.If you have a kennel and run use it and padlock the run. If your dog is running free make sure to keep it at the back/rear of the property if possible, behind secure gates.
4.Leave your dog in your house or garage or in something similar and don’t forget to leave plenty of water for your dog.
